About

The Energy Institute (EI) at Mississippi State University (MSU) was created in 2008 to provide a mechanism to coordinate energy research at MSU, to encourage scientists and engineers to work together on energy projects, and to provide an atmosphere to exchange ideas and develop creative solutions for the complex energy challenges facing the world today.

The EI at Mississippi State University is comprised of three research organizations: The Institute for Clean Energy Technology (ICET), the Micro-Cooling Heating and Power (CHP) group, and the Sustainable Energy Research Center (SERC). The EI works to develop new technologies to promote energy efficiency through combined heating and power concepts and energy audits, as well as developing technology to generate renewable transportation and heating fuel from biomass. Additionally, the EI and its industry partners are working together to support the national nuclear waste remediation efforts and the sequestration of carbon from electrical generation.
